Lawrence Considers Gay Partner Registry |
A city commissioner in Lawrence is looking for a way to recognize gay partnerships. Mike Rundle has asked staff members to research an ordinance that would create a domestic partnership registry.
It would not automatically grant the legal rights that married couples have to gay or lesbian couples. But it would offer legal recognition. Supporters say the registry also would show the city is welcoming and supportive of gays and lesbians. Interest in a domestic registry comes nearly two years after Kansas voters passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Source: kake.com |
