Judith "Judy" Ann (Gay) Kraft, 65, Allouez, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at a local hospital following an eight-year fight with inflammatory breast cancer. Judy has entered the Kingdom of God.
She was born on July 17, 1941, to Aloysius and Emerine (Pierquet) Gay, and attended St. Phillips School, graduating from Preble High School in 1959. She was employed at Preble as a librarian until 1962. Judy also worked in the lighting industry for several years, and most recently was employed at Humana in customer service for 8 years. Judy and Joseph A. Kraft were united in marriage at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on June 29, 1963.
She had a wide variety of interests and community involvements including, St. Matthew's Altar Society, Resurrection School and Parish, Green Bay Symphony, Heritage Hill, De Pere/Green Bay Antiquarians Society, and was an avid fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Awareness Run/Walk.
The mother of three wonderful daughters whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed stimulating the economy through the fine art of shopping. Judy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the time spent at their cottage at Little Sturgeon — pursuing the wily perch and bluegills. She was very capable with either a fly rod or light tackle. Every Saturday she started out making a kettle of soup which cooked over an open fire all day. She was born and raised a great Packers fan through the good and tough times. She was also an avid fan of St. Norbert's college hockey.
Judy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joseph "Joe"; three daughters, Jacqui and Rick Engebos; Jenni Kraft (Keith Bair); and Jolie and Richard Roberts; her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Brandon and Meagan Engebos, Kali Kraft, and Zachary and Xander Roberts; mother, Emerine Gay; and mother-in-law, Germaine Kraft; brothers and sisters, Joyce and Jim Hopkins; Wayne and Annette Gay; Sandee Felix; Roger "Bud" and Yvonne Gay; Steve and Julie Gay; Julie and Kevin Killeen; and Jeff Gay; sisters-in-law, M. Susan Kraft and Jeane; and Fred Fleck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy joins in Heaven her father, Aloysius; brother, Don; her niece, Amanda Gay; brother-in-law, Bob Felix; and father-in-law, Arnold Kraft.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Judy Kraft Memorial Fund.
