Gay American's Straight Ex-Wife To Pen Book About Being Married To Gay American |
|
About six months after the publication of gay American Jim McGreevey's salacious memoir, The Confession, ex-wife Dina Matos McGreevey's signed a deal with Hyperion Books for her own tell-all, the ironically titled Silent Partner.
With the book's publication, McGreevey hope to set the record straight, so to speak, on what went down between her and her husband: I've had a lot of requests for interviews and appearances, but thought it best for my daughter and myself to stay out of the public maelstrom. But two years have passed and still I am the subject of much speculation as to the nature of my relationship with my husband. Enough is enough. Funny, that's exactly what we thought when we heard about this story. Meanwhile, editor Brenda Copeland attempts to convey a personal connection to the book: Like many people, I was impressed with Mrs. McGreevey's grace and fortitude under what were clearly some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable. As I watched the coverage and read Jim McGreevey's speech, I found myself wondering what Mrs. McGreevey was going through - before, during, and after this experience. That's the story I've always wanted to know, and that's the story she has told in Silent Partner. Hmm, pretty convincing, but it could use a little more bullshit. Perhaps Copeland could have said something about the sheer humanity of it all - made a link between McGreevey's struggled as a sexually frustrated political trophy wife and starving children in Djibouti. Something like, "McGreevey's dreams crumbled into the bottomless pit of a life unfulfilled, much like those of Africa's children. Truly, there's something for everyone in this harrowing tale of human perseverance, this soulful quest for truth, this timely marketing manipulation..." Then she could get all choked up, excuse herself and start planning what she's going to do with all that money... Source: queerty.com |
