Dear Dr. Gay
I work at my school. A student is 18 years old. He is in his senior year. He wanted to have some sexual fun out of the school area. Now is this illegal. Or it doesn't really matter since he is 18 and is an Adult. Will I get in trouble for having sexual relationship with him? Since he's 18 and I'm 19 it really doesn't matter? Please help
Yours,
John
Dear John,
First of all let me congratulate you on your relationship with this guy, it sounds like you two are really in love. However after doing research on the internet about "teacher"/student relationship I found out that they are unethical. If you’re serious about this relationship with this pupil then I have to suggest that either you or he transfer to another school so that you can live in peace with your relationship without the constant pressure of being caught by his fellow students or your co-workers. If someone finds out it would most definitely mean you would get fired from your job, it would not involve any criminal charges in most states but you should check with your local regulations regarding age of consent for sexual intercourse for gays.
These situations are always difficult and it can hurt being in love and not being accepted by your community because of ethical issues, but the reality is that we as a society have set these rules in place for ourselves and in most cases for our own good. We need ethics in order to survive as a community, as a nation and as the human race.
All the best with your relationship and I hope you two can find a way to stay together.
Yours truly,
Dr. Gay |
