U.S. law trumps state on gay rights E-mail
Some private health plans exempt from new anti-bias code. In one of the first cases to test Washington's landmark gay-rights law, state officials said Friday that they had no jurisdiction in a dispute over access to health care because federal law supersedes the state statute.

Nigeria: World's Worst Anti-Gay Law May Pass Soon E-mail
One of the most sweeping anti-gay bills ever introduced in any parliament in the world is in danger of rapid passage in Nigeria in the coming weeks. Although billed as a ban on same-sex marriage, the proposed law includes provisions that would make any expression of homosexuality -- not only sexual conduct but any homosexual inclination or reference -- in public or in private, a crime.

Gays protest ex-gay meeting in SF E-mail
Desert Stream Ministries, known for its sexual and relational "healing" workshops and programs, brought its annual Crosswalk conference to San Francisco's Promised Land Fellowship Church on Market Street last weekend. Reykjavik, Iceland.  In the evening news on Channel 2 a report featuring the well known webmaster event “Snow Gathering” was highly criticized by many organizations and the mayor of Reykjavik City.

 

According to the news reports Mayor Vilhjalmsson, Vilhjalmur has requested that the police would investigate the attendees of the upcoming pornography conference as there could be child molesters and producers of child pornography at the venue of such a conference.  This was stated in a statement from the mayor yesterday.  The statement was in response to a challenge of rape victim organization Stigamot where government officials were encouraged to stop the conference, called Snow Gathering from taking place.
